Description

This recipe for crispy pork belly with sweet and sour sauce is a hearty main course with Asian influences. The pork belly is fried crispy in a pan and then refined with a homemade sauce in the Thermomix®. The preparation time is about 90 minutes and is enough for 4 servings. Ideal for a festive dinner or as a savory dish for special occasions.

Ingredients (12 ingredients)

  • 500 g Pork belly
  • 100 g Onion
  • 2 Stück Garlic cloves
  • 2 EL Oil
  • 100 ml Soy sauce
  • 50 ml Rice vinegar
  • 2 EL Honey
  • 2 EL Tomato paste
  • 1 TL Sriracha Sauce
  • 1 TL Sesame oil
  • 100 ml Water
  • 1 EL Cornstarch

Preparation (8 steps)

Prepare onion and garlic

Thermomix® Setting

Put 100 g onion in the mixing bowl and chop for 3 sec./level 5. Add 2 garlic cloves and chop for 3 sec./level 7. Use the spatula to push everything down from the edge.

Sauté onion and garlic

Add 2 tbsp oil and sauté for 3 min./120°C/level 1.

Prepare sweet and sour sauce

Thermomix® Setting
10 min/212°F/Speed 2 212°F

Add 100 ml soy sauce, 50 ml rice vinegar, 2 tbsp honey, 2 tbsp tomato paste, 1 tsp Sriracha Sauce, 1 tsp sesame oil and 100 ml water and cook for 10 min./100°C/level 2. Leave the measuring cup on.

Thicken sauce

3 min/212°F/Speed 2 212°F

Mix 1 tbsp cornstarch with 2 tbsp cold water and add to the mixing bowl. Cook for another 3 min./100°C/level 2. Leave the measuring cup on.

Transfer sauce and clean mixing bowl

Transfer the sauce and clean the mixing bowl.

Prepare pork belly

Cut 500 g pork belly into approx. 2 cm cubes.

Fry pork belly

Fry the pork belly in a separate pan with a little oil until crispy.

Mix pork belly and sauce

Thermomix® Setting
5 min/212°F/Linkslauf Speed 1 212°F Reverse

Place the fried pork belly in the mixing bowl and add the prepared sweet and sour sauce. Heat for 5 min./100°C/reverse rotation level 1.
