Description

This vibrant sautéed red chard recipe is a quick and flavorful side dish, perfect for adding a pop of color and nutrients to any meal. The combination of ginger, garlic, and chilli creates a warm and spicy base, while the Shaoxing rice wine and soy sauce add depth and umami. I love how quickly this comes together – it's ready in just 15 minutes! It's a great way to use seasonal chard and makes a delicious vegetarian option. Feel free to adjust the amount of chilli to your liking. A sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds would also be a lovely addition!

Ingredients (9 ingredients)

  • 2 tsp cornflour
  • 1 tbsp rapeseed oil
  • 2 clove garlic
  • 2.5 cm ginger
  • 1 piece red chilli
  • 500 g red chard
  • 1 tbsp Shaoxing rice wine
  • 1 tbsp light soy sauce
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame oil

Preparation (6 steps)

Prepare Cornflour Slurry

In a small bowl, mix 2 tsp cornflour with 1 tbsp water and set aside. This will be used to thicken the sauce later.

Chop Garlic, Ginger and Chilli

Place 2 garlic cloves, 2½ cm piece of ginger and 1 red chilli into the mixing bowl and chop for 3 Sec./Stufe 7.

Sauté Garlic, Ginger and Chilli

Add 1 tbsp rapeseed oil to the mixing bowl and sauté for 3 Min./120°C/Stufe 1.

Add Red Chard

Add 500g red chard to the mixing bowl and cook for 3 Min./100°C/Linkslauf Stufe 1.

Add Rice Wine and Soy Sauce

Thermomix® Setting
30 sec/212°F/Linkslauf Speed 1 100 Reverse

Pour in 1 tbsp Shaoxing rice wine and cook, stirring, for less than 1 min. Then pour in 1 tbsp light soy sauce and the cornflour slurry and stir for 30 Sec./100°C/Linkslauf Stufe 1.

Finish and Serve

Take off the heat and drizzle over 1 tsp toasted sesame oil. Serve immediately.
