Ingredients (10 ingredients)

  • 1.5 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 piece onion, chopped
  • 2 clove garlic, minced
  • 15 ounce tomato sauce
  • 6 ounce tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • salt
  • 4 piece flour tortillas (10 inch)
  • 2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese

Prepare the Pie Plate

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a deep dish pie plate; set aside.

Chop Onion and Garlic

Add a little oil to the mixing bowl with the chopped onion and sauté for 3 Min./120°C/Stufe 1.

Add Garlic

Add 2 cloves garlic, minced, to the mixing bowl and chop for 3 Sec./Stufe 7.

Brown Ground Beef

In a large skillet over medium heat, brown 1 ½ pounds lean ground beef and onion until beef is no longer pink; drain fat. Return to the heat and push the meat and onion to the sides of the pan. Add the garlic to the center of the pan and cook briefly. Stir the beef and onion together with the garlic.

Add Sauce and Spices

Add 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce, 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste, 1 teaspoon ground cumin, 2 teaspoons chili powder and salt to taste to the mixing bowl. Mix well and allow to thicken slightly for 5 Min./100°C/Stufe 2.

Assemble Casserole

Spoon a thin layer of the beef mixture onto the bottom of the pie plate. Begin layering the 4 (10 inch) flour tortillas, beef mixture, then 2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese, ending with a final layer of cheese on the top.

Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until cheese is melted and lightly browned.
