Description

This hearty pea soup with smoked pork loin is a real soul food for cold days! I especially like to cook it in winter when you need something hearty and warming. The smoked pork loin gives the soup a great, smoky taste that goes perfectly with the peas and vegetables. The preparation takes a little while, but it's definitely worth it. The soup can also be prepared well in advance and frozen in portions. A dollop of sour cream or crème fraîche and fresh herbs make it perfect. Simply delicious!

Ingredients (13 ingredients)

  • 1 piece Onion
  • 1 tbsp Butter or margarine
  • 300 g Split peas
  • 600 g Pork loin neck with bone
  • 1 tsp Marjoram
  • 3 piece Bay leaves
  • 200 g Carrots
  • 375 g Potatoes
  • 1 Stange Leek
  • 2 piece Krakow sausages
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • Fresh herbs for sprinkling

Preparation (8 steps)

Chop onion

Peel and quarter 1 onion and place in the mixing bowl. Chop for 3 seconds/speed 5.

Sauté onion

Add 1 tablespoon of butter or margarine and sauté for 3 min./120°C/speed 1.

Cook soup

60 min/212°F/Speed 1 100

Add 300 g split peas, 600 g pork loin neck with bone, 1 teaspoon marjoram, 3 bay leaves and 1 1/2 liters of water. Cook for 60 min./100°C/speed 1.

Prepare vegetables

In the meantime, peel, wash and slice 200 g carrots. Peel, wash and quarter 375 g potatoes. Clean, wash and cut 1 leek (approx. 250 g) into rings.

Add vegetables

Add carrots, potatoes and leek and cook for another 30 min./100°C/speed 1.

Prepare meat

Remove pork loin from the soup and cut into cubes. Cut 2 Krakow sausages (approx. 150 g each) into slices.

Heat meat

5 min/212°F/Linkslauf Speed 1 100 Reverse

Add pork loin and Krakow sausage to the soup and heat for 5 min./100°C/reverse rotation speed 1.

Season with salt and pepper and serve sprinkled with fresh herbs.
