Description

This savory bread is an absolute hit at any barbecue or brunch! I've been baking it for years and it's always a hit. The combination of spicy ham, aromatic onions and creamy sheep's cheese makes it simply irresistible. The dried herbs and soup greens give the bread a special touch. It is super juicy and tastes good both warm and cold. Ideal for dipping or simply enjoying pure. Be sure to try it!

Ingredients (12 ingredients)

  • 1 Pck. Dry yeast
  • 500 g Flour
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 250 ml Water, lukewarm
  • 2 piece Onions, medium-sized
  • 150 g Ham, diced
  • 150 g Sheep's cheese
  • 1 tsp Herbs, dried or preserved in oil
  • 1 tsp Soup vegetables, preserved (grated carrots as a substitute)
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • to taste Caraway

Preparation (8 steps)

Chop onions

Add 2 medium-sized onions to the mixing bowl and chop for 3 sec./speed 5. Push down with the spatula.

Sauté ham and onions

Add 150 g diced ham to the onions in the mixing bowl and sauté for 3 min./120°C/speed 1.

Add herbs and spices

Thermomix® Setting
10 sec/Speed 2

Add 1 tsp dried herbs, 1 tsp preserved soup vegetables (or grated carrots), salt, pepper and caraway to the mixing bowl and stir for 10 sec./speed 2.

Add sheep's cheese

Thermomix® Setting
1 min/140°F/Speed 1 60

Add 150 g sheep's cheese in small pieces to the mixing bowl and stir in for 1 min./60°C/speed 1 until a viscous mass is formed.

Prepare yeast dough

Thermomix® Setting
2 min/Kneading speed

Add 500 g flour, 1 packet dry yeast and 1 tsp salt to the mixing bowl. Add 250 ml lukewarm water and the mixture from the mixing bowl. Knead for 2 min./kneading stage. Add a little more water if necessary.

Let the dough rise

Transfer the dough to a bowl, cover and let rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes.

Shape the dough and let it rise again

Transfer the dough to a baking pan. Preheat the oven to 50 degrees and place a fireproof dish with water on the bottom of the oven. Let the dough rise again for about 30 minutes with the oven door half open.

Bake bread

Preheat the oven to 190 degrees and bake the bread for 1 hour.
