Description

Friarielli sautéed with garlic and chili pepper are a typical side dish of Neapolitan cuisine, simple and tasty. This recipe, which I often prepare with my Thermomix®, enhances the bitter taste of the friarielli, making them perfect to accompany meat or fish dishes. The preparation is really quick and requires few ingredients: fresh friarielli, garlic, chili pepper, extra virgin olive oil and salt. The result is a fragrant and tasty dish, ideal for a quick dinner or a light lunch. A tip? Serve them hot to best appreciate the taste!

Ingredients (5 ingredients)

  • 500 g friarielli
  • 2 clove garlic
  • 2 piece whole chili pepper
  • extra virgin olive oil
  • fine salt

Preparation (4 steps)

Cleaning the friarielli

Clean the friarielli by removing the hardest part of the stem so as to keep only the part with the leaves and scrape lightly with a knife. This step is essential to guarantee a delicate flavor and a pleasant consistency.

Preparation of garlic and chili pepper

Thermomix® Setting
3 min/248°F/Speed 1 120

Pour the extra virgin olive oil into the Thermomix bowl. Add the garlic cloves and the whole chili pepper. Set 3 Min./120°C/Stufe 1 to brown the garlic and flavor the oil.

Cooking the friarielli

Thermomix® Setting
12 min/212°F/Linkslauf Speed 1 100 Reverse

Add the cleaned friarielli to the Thermomix bowl. Season with fine salt. Set 12 Min./100°C/Linkslauf Stufe 1. If the cooking liquid is too liquid, remove the lid in the last few minutes.

Check and serve

Check that the friarielli are soft, fragrant and a beautiful green. Serve hot.
