Description

These cream cheese bread rolls are a delightful treat, perfect for a weekend brunch or a sweet snack. I've been making these for years, and they're always a hit! The creamy filling combined with the cinnamon-sugar coating creates a wonderful flavor and texture. They're surprisingly easy to make, though you'll need to plan ahead for the freezing time. The slight tang of the cream cheese is balanced perfectly by the sweetness of the sugar and the warmth of the cinnamon. Feel free to experiment with different spices, like nutmeg or cardamom, for a unique twist. These rolls are best served warm, straight from the oven.

Ingredients (6 ingredients)

  • 8 ounce cream cheese, softened
  • 1 piece egg yolk
  • 1 cup white sugar, divided
  • 24 slice white bread, crusts removed
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted

Cream Cheese Filling

Place the softened cream cheese, egg yolk, and 1/4 cup of sugar into the mixing bowl. Mix for 20 Sec./Stufe 4 until smooth.

Prepare Cinnamon Sugar

In a shallow bowl, mix the remaining 3/4 cup of sugar and ground cinnamon together. Set aside.

Assemble the Rolls

Remove the crusts from the bread slices. Spread an even amount of the cream cheese mixture onto one side of each bread slice. Roll each slice into a cylinder around the cream cheese filling.

Butter and Coat

Pour the melted butter into a separate shallow bowl. Brush the melted butter around the outside of each bread roll. Roll the buttered rolls in the cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat completely.

Freeze the Rolls

Arrange the rolls in a dish, cover with plastic wrap, and freeze for at least 2 hours.

Bake the Rolls

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Transfer the frozen rolls to a baking dish and bake in the preheated oven until hot in the center, approximately 10 to 12 minutes.
