Description

This stuffed cake is a real eye-catcher and tastes simply delicious! I like to make it for birthdays or other festive occasions. The juicy chocolate cake base, the creamy vanilla custard filling and the crunchy cake crumbs form a perfect harmony. The preparation is a bit more complex, but the result is worth it. The cake can be prepared well in advance and should steep for a few hours before serving so that the flavors can fully develop. An absolute must for all cake lovers!

Ingredients (10 ingredients)

  • 4 piece Egg(s)
  • 1 container Sugar
  • 1 container Milk
  • 1 container Oil
  • 2 container Flour
  • 2 tbsp Cocoa powder
  • 1 Pck. Baking powder
  • 1 l Milk
  • 2 Pck. Vanilla custard
  • 60 g Sugar

Preparation (9 steps)

Prepare oven and grease tray

Preheat the oven to 180°C. Grease a baking tray measuring 25x25 cm (or 20x30 cm) well or line with baking paper. Prepare a measuring cup with a capacity of 200 ml, as this will be used for the quantities.

Prepare dough

Put 4 eggs and 1 cup of sugar into the mixing bowl and beat for 5 min/level 4 until fluffy.

Add liquid ingredients

Slowly add 1 cup of milk and 1 cup of oil to the mixing bowl while stirring for 1 min/level 3.

Mix and add dry ingredients

Thermomix® Setting

Sift 2 cups of flour, 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder and 1 packet of baking powder in a separate bowl. Add the sifted ingredients to the mixing bowl and stir in for 20 sec/level 3.

Bake dough

Pour the dough onto the prepared baking tray and bake in the preheated oven for approx. 20 - 25 minutes. After baking, let the cake cool down.

Cut out cake and make crumbs

Cut out the cooled cake at regular intervals (4 - 5 cm) with a cookie cutter (2 - 3 cm diameter). Process the cut-out cake circles into crumbs and set aside.

Prepare custard

Put 1 liter of milk, 2 packets of vanilla custard and 60 g of sugar into the mixing bowl. Cook for 8 min./100°C/level 2.

Fill and decorate cake

Fill the custard into the cut-out holes of the cake. Spread the remaining custard evenly on the cake. Spread the cake crumbs on the custard surface.

Let the cake steep

Let the stuffed cake steep in the refrigerator for a few hours (at least 3 hours) so that the filling becomes firm and the flavors can combine.
