Description

A hearty potato casserole with minced meat, perfect for cold days.

Ingredients (13 ingredients)

  • 1 Stück Onion
  • 2 Zehen Garlic
  • 1000 g Potatoes (predominantly waxy)
  • 1 EL Olive oil
  • 500 g Ground beef
  • 2 EL Tomato paste
  • 1 EL Flour
  • 400 ml Vegetable broth
  • 200 g Cream
  • 150 g Grated cheese (e.g. Gouda or Emmental)
  • 2 EL Italian herbs (frozen)
  • nach Geschmack Salt
  • nach Geschmack Pepper

Preparation (10 steps)

Chop onion and garlic

Thermomix® Setting

Add 1 peeled and quartered onion and 2 cloves of garlic to the mixing bowl and chop for 3 sec./level 5. If necessary, push down from the edge with the spatula.

Sauté onion and garlic

Thermomix® Setting

Add 1 tbsp olive oil to the onions and garlic in the mixing bowl and sauté for 3 min./120°C/level 1.

Fry minced meat

Fry 500 g ground beef in a large pan with some olive oil until crumbly. Add the sautéed onions and garlic from the mixing bowl to the ground beef in the pan and fry briefly.

Add tomato paste and flour

Add 2 tbsp tomato paste to the ground beef in the pan and fry briefly. Then sprinkle 1 tbsp flour over it and also fry briefly.

Prepare sauce

Add 400 ml vegetable broth and 200 g cream to the ground beef in the pan. Stir everything well and bring to a boil.

Prepare potatoes

Peel 1 kg potatoes and cut into thin slices with a vegetable slicer.

Mix potatoes and sauce

Add the potato slices to the sauce in the pan, stir and simmer covered for 10 minutes over medium heat until the potatoes are slightly soft.

Season and add herbs

Season the potato and minced meat mixture with salt and pepper. Stir in 2 tbsp Italian herbs (frozen).

Layer casserole

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees top and bottom heat. Put the potato and minced meat mixture into a casserole dish and spread evenly.

Add cheese and bake

Sprinkle 150 g grated cheese (e.g. Gouda or Emmental) over the casserole. Bake the casserole for approx. 40 minutes until the cheese is golden brown. If necessary, cover with aluminum foil if the cheese gets too dark.
