Description

These cinnamon sugar cookie swirls are a delightful treat, perfect for a cozy afternoon or a festive gathering. I've been making these for years, and they always disappear quickly! The flaky, buttery dough combined with the warm cinnamon and sweet sugar creates a truly irresistible flavor. They're surprisingly easy to make, especially with the Thermomix®, which simplifies the dough preparation. These cookies are best enjoyed fresh, but they also freeze well for a later treat. A simple yet satisfying dessert that's sure to please everyone!

Ingredients (7 ingredients)

  • 1.25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 0.33333333333333 cups shortening
  • 2 tbsp warm water
  • 1 tbsp shortening
  • 0.25 cups white sugar
  • ground cinnamon

Preparation (8 steps)

Combine flour and salt

Thermomix® Setting

Add 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour and 1/4 teaspoon salt to the Thermomix bowl. Mix for 5 Sec./Stufe 4 to combine.

Add shortening

10 sec/Speed 4

Add 1/3 cup shortening to the Thermomix bowl. Mix for 10 Sek./Stufe 4 until the mixture resembles pea-sized balls.

Add water and form dough

Thermomix® Setting
20 sec/Speed 3

With the Thermomix running at Stufe 2, gradually add 2 tablespoons warm water through the lid opening. Mix until a dough forms. If needed, add a little more water, a teaspoon at a time. Mix for 20 Sek./Stufe 3.

Roll out the dough

Remove the dough from the Thermomix and place it on a well-floured surface. Roll the dough out into a rectangle approximately 12 by 16 inches and about 1/8-inch thick.

Spread shortening and sprinkle sugar and cinnamon

Spread 1 tablespoon of shortening evenly over the surface of the dough. Sprinkle 1/4 cup white sugar all over the dough, followed by ground cinnamon to your liking.

Roll and slice the dough

Pick up a long edge of the dough and tightly roll it into a log shape. With a sharp knife, slice the log into 3/4-inch thick slices. Place the slices onto a baking sheet sprayed with cooking spray or lined with parchment paper.

Bake the cookies

Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C). Bake in the preheated oven until the cookies are lightly browned and sizzling on the bottom, about 8 minutes.

Cool and serve

Cool the cookies on paper towels before serving. Extras can be frozen for later enjoyment.
