Description

I love preparing these rice rolls with salmon and avocado! They are perfect for a light lunch or a tasty appetizer. Preparation requires a bit of patience, but the result is truly delicious. Sushi rice, with its sticky texture, pairs perfectly with the delicacy of the salmon and the creaminess of the avocado. A touch of soy sauce further enhances the flavors. They can be prepared in advance and stored in the refrigerator until ready to serve. An original idea to impress your guests!

  • Avocado
  • Nori seaweed
  • Soy sauce

Salmon preparation

Place the salmon fillet on a cutting board, remove the skin if present. Make sure there are no bones and, if present, remove them. Cut the fillet into strips. Set aside the taller fillet if you also want to prepare sashimi, and use the side fillet, only removing the thinnest and fattiest part.

Ingredient preparation

Wrap the mat with clear film, making sure to seal it well on the sides. Cut the seaweed in half, you will need half a seaweed for each roll you need to prepare.

Water preparation

Prepare a bowl with cold water, you can use only water or make it acidic with a few drops of rice vinegar.

Avocado preparation (optional)

If you also want to prepare some vegetarian sushi, wash the avocado, peel it and cut it into not too thick slices.

Spreading the rice on the seaweed

Wet your hands in the bowl, with wet hands arrange the rice on about three quarters of the seaweed, the final part must be empty to be able to close the rolls well.

Roll creation

Put a piece of salmon on top of the rice, with the help of the mat, tightening slightly, roll up until you get a roll, proceed in the same way with the remaining ingredients, alternating as desired with avocado if you want to prepare also vegetarian rolls.

Roll cutting

When all the rolls are ready, replace the water in the bowl with clean water, in this case too you can make it acidic as before. Wet the blade of a very sharp knife and cut your rolls into 6-8 parts, you will then obtain 6 or 8 pieces of hosomaki for each roll prepared, proceed in the same way until you finish everything.

Serving

The hosomaki are ready, arrange them on a serving dish and serve with soy sauce.
