Description

This rustica with peppers and mozzarella is an explosion of Mediterranean flavors! The base of crispy puff pastry encloses a creamy and tasty filling, perfect for a quick lunch or a delicious appetizer. The cooked peppers, stringy mozzarella and speck create an irresistible combination. The preparation is simple and quick, ideal for those who have little time but do not want to give up taste. I often prepare it for my friends, and it always goes like hotcakes! Perfect to be enjoyed warm or cold, it is also an excellent solution for a picnic or an excursion. A real Italian comfort food!

Ingredients (7 ingredients)

  • 1 rotolo round puff pastry
  • 3 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • 300 g cooked peppers
  • 300 g mozzarella
  • 100 g diced speck
  • 1 q.b. fine salt
  • 1 q.b. pepper

Preparation (5 steps)

Mozzarella in cubes

300 g of drained mozzarella, cut into cubes, set aside in a bowl.

Filling preparation

In the bowl with the mozzarella, add 300 g of cooked peppers cut into small pieces and 100 g of diced speck. Season with fine salt to taste and pepper to taste and mix well with a spoon.

Preparation of the cake tin

Roll out 1 roll of round puff pastry in a 26 centimeter diameter cake tin, making it adhere well and keeping it in the baking paper supplied. Sprinkle the bottom with 3 tablespoons of breadcrumbs, distributing them evenly with the back of a spoon.

Pour in the filling

Pour the prepared filling into the puff pastry shell and level it evenly.

Baking in the oven

Arrange the edges of the puff pastry, folding them inwards. Bake in a preheated fan oven at 170 °C for 45 minutes.
