Ingredients (14 ingredients)

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil
  • 1.5 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 1 piece egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 cup milk
  • 0.5 cup shredded Swiss cheese
  • 0.25 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoon Dijon-style mustard
  • 16 ounce sliced ham
  • 4 slice Swiss cheese
  • 0.5 cup arugula or spinach leaves
  • 2 tablespoon butter

Preparation (6 steps)

Combine dry ingredients

Add 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon sugar, 1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil, 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder, and ¼ teaspoon salt to the Thermomix bowl. Mix for 10 Sec./Stufe 4.

Add wet ingredients and cheese

Add 1 egg, lightly beaten, 1 cup milk, and ½ cup shredded Swiss cheese to the Thermomix bowl. Mix for 15 Sec./Stufe 3.

Add oil and mix

Thermomix® Setting
10 sec/Speed 3

Add ¼ cup vegetable oil to the Thermomix bowl. Mix for 10 Sec./Stufe 3. Scrape down the sides of the bowl with a spatula.

Bake waffles

Heat a waffle iron according to the manufacturer's directions. Lightly grease the waffle iron. Pour batter onto the preheated waffle iron and bake according to the manufacturer's directions. Repeat with remaining batter. You should have 8 4-inch waffles.

Assemble sandwiches

For each sandwich, spread waffles with 2 tablespoons Dijon-style mustard. Layer sliced ham, 4 slices Swiss cheese, and ½ cup arugula or spinach leaves on half of the waffles. Top with remaining waffles, spread side down.

Grill sandwiches

Heat a griddle or 12-inch skillet over medium heat. Add 2 tablespoons butter until melted. Add sandwiches. Cook for 4 minutes or until cheese is melted, turning once.
