Description

This Sichuan pepper chicken stir-fry is a flavorful and quick meal perfect for a weeknight dinner. The chicken is coated in a fragrant blend of Sichuan peppercorns, salt, and five-spice powder, then stir-fried to golden perfection. A simple soy and honey glaze adds a touch of sweetness and umami, while Asian greens provide a healthy and vibrant side. Ingredients (11 ingredients)

  • 500 g skinless, boneless chicken thighs
  • 1 tsp flaky sea salt
  • 1 tsp Sichuan peppercorns
  • 1 tbsp cornflour
  • 1 tsp Chinese five-spice powder
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 250 g Asian greens
  • 1 handful chopped coriander

Preparation (7 steps)

Crush Salt and Peppercorns

Thermomix® Setting
10 sec/Speed 10

Add 1 tsp flaky sea salt and 1 tsp Sichuan peppercorns to the mixing bowl. Process for 10 Sec./Stufe 10 to crush them into a fine powder.

Combine Spices and Cornflour

Thermomix® Setting
5 sec/Speed 3

Add 1 tbsp cornflour and 1 tsp Chinese five-spice powder to the mixing bowl with the crushed salt and peppercorns. Mix for 5 Sec./Stufe 3 to combine all the dry ingredients.

Coat Chicken

Cut 500g skinless, boneless chicken thighs into strips. Place the chicken strips into a bag with the flour mixture and shake well to coat evenly. Set aside.

Toast Sesame Seeds

Thermomix® Setting
1 min/248°F/Speed 1 120

Add 1 tsp sesame seeds to the mixing bowl. Toast for 1 Min./120°C/Stufe 1. Remove and set aside.

Cook Chicken

Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the coated chicken and cook for 7-8 mins until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from pan and set aside.

Combine Soy Sauce and Honey

Thermomix® Setting
5 sec/Speed 3

In the mixing bowl, combine 1 tbsp soy sauce and 1 tbsp honey. Mix for 5 Sec./Stufe 3.

Cook Asian Greens

Add the cooked chicken, 250g Asian greens, and the soy sauce and honey mixture to the pan. Cook for 2-3 mins further until everything is well coated and the greens are cooked through.
