Description

I always enjoy making this dish, especially for Halloween! The combination of creamy mashed potatoes, hearty sausages and fresh spinach is simply unbeatable. The preparation is super easy and fun for kids too. The potato spiders are a real eye-catcher and taste delicious. The dish is perfect for a Halloween party or as a fun dinner for the whole family. Try it out, you will be thrilled!

Ingredients (11 ingredients)

  • 1 kg Potatoes
  • Salt
  • 2 Packungen Creamed spinach
  • 1 piece Cherry tomato
  • 16 piece Nuremberg Rostbratwurst sausages
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 200 ml Milk
  • 25 g Butter
  • Grated nutmeg
  • 1 piece Chive stalk
  • 8 piece Sunflower seeds

Preparation (6 steps)

Prepare potatoes

Peel, wash and cut 1 kg of potatoes into coarse pieces. Place the potato pieces in the mixing bowl.

Cook potatoes

Thermomix® Setting
25 min/212°F/Speed 1 100

Add salt and 500 ml of water to the potatoes in the mixing bowl and cook for 25 min./100°C/speed 1.

Heat spinach

Thermomix® Setting
20 min/Varoma/Speed 1 Varoma

Place 2 packs (à 450 g) of creamed spinach in the Varoma container. Place the Varoma on the mixing bowl and steam for 20 min./Varoma/speed 1.

Prepare mashed potatoes

Thermomix® Setting
20 sec/Speed 4

After the cooking time has elapsed, drain the potatoes, collecting the cooking water. Return the potatoes to the mixing bowl. Add 200 ml of milk, 25 g of butter, salt and grated nutmeg and process into a puree for 20 sec./speed 4. If necessary, add some cooking water to achieve the desired consistency.

Fry sausages

Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan. Halve 16 Nuremberg Rostbratwurst sausages (à approx. 25 g) lengthwise and fry in it, turning, for 2–3 minutes. (Be careful as it splatters a lot.)

Serving

Spread spinach on plates. Use a tablespoon to place mashed potatoes as a body on the spinach. Use a teaspoon to attach mashed potatoes as a head and garnish with 1 cherry tomato (quartered and pitted), 1 chive stalk (cut into 4 strips) and 8 sunflower seeds. Place 8 sausage halves (be careful, they are hot!) as legs on the body.
