Description

This recipe for spare ribs from the Dutch oven is a hearty main course, ideal for autumn and winter. The pork ribs are marinated with a spicy barbecue sauce, maple syrup, mustard and Tabasco and braised together with onions, peppers and black beer in the Dutch oven. The bacon provides additional flavor and prevents sticking. The preparation time is about 3 hours, the working time about 30 minutes. The recipe is designed for 4 servings.

Ingredients (10 ingredients)

  • 3 kg Pork ribs
  • Rub, to taste
  • 8 EL Barbecue sauce
  • 1 EL Maple syrup
  • 1 TL Mustard, hot
  • 2 TL Tabasco
  • 2 Stück Bell pepper(s)
  • 3 Stück Onion(s), red
  • 0.5 Flasche Black beer
  • 10 Streifen Bacon

Preparation (6 steps)

Prepare onions and peppers

Quarter 3 red onions. Cut 2 bell peppers into medium-sized pieces.

Add vegetables to the Dutch oven

Place the prepared onions and peppers in the Dutch oven. Pour 1/2 bottle of black beer over it.

Prepare the sauce

Mix 8 tablespoons of barbecue sauce, 1 tablespoon of maple syrup, 1 teaspoon of hot mustard and 2 teaspoons of Tabasco in a bowl.

Layer and brush meat

Place 3 kg of pork ribs in the Dutch oven and brush with the prepared sauce. Continue layering and brush the meat with the sauce. Save some sauce.

Add bacon

Lay 10 strips of bacon over the meat.

Braising

Place the Dutch oven on half of the briquettes and place the other half on the lid. Braise for approx. 2.5 hours. After the first and second hour, check whether there is still enough liquid in the pot. Add liquid if necessary. If the temperature is too high, remove 2-4 briquettes.
