Description

These spiced pork skewers are a flavorful and fun way to enjoy a quick meal. I've been making these for summer barbecues for years, and they're always a hit! The combination of allspice, cinnamon, and thyme gives the pork a warm, aromatic flavor that's perfectly balanced by the fresh lime and a hint of molasses. They're great served with a simple rice salad, making them a complete and satisfying meal. The recipe is easy to adapt to your taste – add a pinch of chili flakes for extra heat, or use honey instead of molasses for a sweeter flavor. Perfect for a casual get-together or a quick weeknight dinner!

Ingredients (11 ingredients)

  • 500 g pork mince
  • 2 tsp allspice berries
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tsp thyme leaves
  • 2 piece spring onions
  • 2 clove garlic cloves
  • 1 piece lime
  • 2 tsp molasses
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • rice salad
  • 8 piece wooden skewers

Preparation (6 steps)

Prepare the Spice Mix

Add 2 tsp allspice berries to the mixing bowl and grind for 10 Sec./Stufe 10.

Combine Spices and Aromatics

Thermomix® Setting

Add 2 tsp ground cinnamon, 2 tsp thyme leaves, 2 spring onions, and 2 garlic cloves to the mixing bowl. Chop for 5 Sec./Stufe 5.

Mix Pork with Spices

Thermomix® Setting
20 sec/Speed 3/Linkslauf Reverse

Add 500g pork mince, zest of 1 lime, and 2 tsp molasses to the mixing bowl. Mix for 20 Sek./Stufe 3/Linkslauf.

Shape the Skewers

Divide the pork mixture into eight portions. Roll each portion into a ball and press it onto a wooden skewer, forming a sausage shape around the skewer. Drizzle 2 tbsp olive oil over a large plate and transfer the finished skewers to the oiled plate. Keep chilled until needed.

Cook the Skewers

Light the barbecue. When the coals are ashen, place the skewers on the grill and cook, undisturbed, for 2 mins. Carefully turn using tongs and cook for another 5 mins before turning again. Repeat this process once more until the skewers are cooked through and browned.

Serve

Remove to a serving platter, squeeze over the lime wedges and season. Serve with a rice salad.
