Description

This recipe for sweet and sour pickled red onions is easy to prepare and is great as a side dish or topping. With the Thermomix® and the Wundermix WunderSlicer V2, the onions are quickly sliced and the broth is cooked. The pickled onions are vegan, gluten-free and lactose-free and can be kept in the refrigerator for several weeks. Ideal for anyone looking for a quick and tasty addition to their dishes.

Ingredients (10 ingredients)

  • 8 Stück Onions
  • 500 ml Water
  • 500 ml Apple vinegar
  • 200 g Honey
  • 2 EL Salt
  • 1 Stück Clove of garlic
  • 2 Stück Bay leaves
  • 1 EL Mixed pepper
  • 1 EL Mustard seed
  • Chili

Preparation (5 steps)

Prepare onions

Peel 8 onions. Place the Wundermix WunderSlicer V2 on the mixing bowl lid and select the fine slice. Cut the onions into thin slices with the WunderSlicer and put the cut material in a bowl.

Prepare broth

Put 500 ml water, 500 ml apple vinegar, 200 g honey, 2 tbsp salt, 1 clove of garlic, 2 bay leaves, 1 tbsp mixed pepper and 1 tbsp mustard seeds into the mixing bowl.

Boil broth

Thermomix® Setting

Close the mixing bowl and insert the measuring cup. Boil the ingredients for 10 Min./100°C/Stufe 1.

Pickle onions

Fill the onion slices into clean jars. Pour the still warm broth over the onions until they are completely covered. Add chili as desired.

Let cool down

Close the jars and let them cool. The pickled onions can be stored in the refrigerator for several weeks.
