Description

This apple pie with maple syrup is a delightful twist on a classic dessert. I've been making this recipe for years, and it's always a hit! The combination of tart apples, warm spices, and the rich sweetness of maple syrup creates a truly comforting and flavorful pie. It's perfect for a cozy autumn evening or any special occasion. The crust is flaky and golden brown, and the filling is juicy and bursting with apple flavor. This pie is best served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream. Enjoy!

Ingredients (11 ingredients)

  • 1 piece pastry for a 9-inch double crust pie
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 5 cups apple - peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 0.75 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 piece large egg
  • 1 piece large egg yolk
  • 0.5 teaspoon water

Preparation (4 steps)

Preheat oven and prepare pie dish

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Line a 9-inch pie dish with 1 pastry crust. This step does not involve the Thermomix.

Combine dry ingredients

Add 3 tablespoons cornstarch, 2 tablespoons white sugar, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg, and ¼ teaspoon salt to the mixing bowl. Mix for 10 Sec./Stufe 3 to combine.

Mix apple filling

Thermomix® Setting
20 sec/Linkslauf Speed 2 Reverse

Add 5 cups peeled, cored, and sliced apples, ¾ cup pure maple syrup, and 1 large egg to the mixing bowl. Mix for 20 Sec./Linkslauf Stufe 2 until thoroughly combined. Use the spatula to scrape down the sides of the mixing bowl if needed.

Assemble and bake the pie

Pour apple mixture into the prepared pie dish. Cover with remaining crust, seal edges, and cut away excess dough. Make several small slits in the top to allow steam to escape. Whisk together 1 large egg yolk and ½ teaspoon water in a small bowl until well combined; brush over the top of pie. Cover pie loosely with aluminum foil and place on a baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 35 minutes. Remove the foil; continue baking until crust is golden brown, about 15 more minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. These steps do not involve the Thermomix.
