Description

This hearty onion cake from the Thermomix® is a savory main course with onions and bacon. The main ingredients are flour, yeast, onions and smoked bacon. The preparation takes a total of 90 minutes, of which 45 minutes are active working time. The recipe is ideal for anyone looking for a hearty meal or a hearty family dinner.   • 400 g Flour
  • 1 Würfel Fresh yeast
  • 200 ml Milk
  • 100 g Butter/ Margarine
  • 1 TL Salt
  • 1 kg Onions
  • 200 g Streaky smoked bacon
  • 60 g Butter/Margarine
  • Salt/Pepper
  • Caraway
  • 250 g Sour cream
  • 2 Stück Eggs
  • 2 Stück Egg yolk

Preparation (8 steps)

Prepare yeast dough

Add flour, crumbled yeast and salt to the mixing bowl. Add lukewarm milk and knead for 2 min./kneading setting to form a loose yeast dough.

Let the yeast dough rise

Place the yeast dough in a bowl, cover and let rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes.

Prepare onions

Cut the onions into rings.

Fry bacon and sauté onions

Dice the bacon and render it in a separate pan. Add butter/margarine and sauté the onions in it. Season generously with salt, pepper and caraway.

Roll out yeast dough

Briefly knead the yeast dough and roll it out on a greased baking sheet. Let rise for about 15 minutes.

Distribute topping

Spread the onion mixture evenly on the yeast dough.

Prepare and distribute the sauce

Mix sour cream, eggs and egg yolk and pour over the onions.

Baking

Bake the onion cake in a preheated oven (electric oven: 200°C/convection oven 175°C) for approx. 35-40 minutes.
