Description

These stuffed pita pockets are a true taste experience! The juicy ground meat, combined with the crunchy red cabbage and the creamy yogurt hummus sauce, makes them a perfect dish for a relaxed lunch or a barbecue party. I especially like to make them in the summer when the red cabbage comes fresh from the market. The preparation is a bit more complex, but it's definitely worth it! If you like it a little spicier, you can add more chili flakes. The mint provides a fresh note that harmonizes wonderfully with the other flavors. An absolute must for anyone who likes to try new flavors!

Ingredients (16 ingredients)

  • 0.5 piece Red cabbage
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 4 tbsp Vinegar
  • 4 tbsp Oil
  • 60 g Pepper
  • 1 piece Onion
  • 1 clove Garlic
  • 400 g Ground beef
  • 1 piece Egg (M)
  • 50 g Breadcrumbs
  • 1 pinch Chili flakes
  • 1 piece Romaine lettuce heart
  • 3 Stiel Mint
  • 4 piece Pita bread pockets
  • 150 g Tahini hummus
  • 150 g Yogurt (3.5%)

Preparation (8 steps)

Prepare red cabbage

Thermomix® Setting
5 sec/Speed 4

Wash, dry the red cabbage, remove the outer leaves and the thick stalk. Place the red cabbage in the mixing bowl and chop for 5 sec/speed 4. Transfer to a bowl. Add ½ tsp salt and 4 tbsp vinegar and knead vigorously with your hands until the cabbage softens. Add 4 tbsp oil and pepper and season with salt and pepper.

Chop onion and garlic

Thermomix® Setting
3 sec/Speed 7

Peel the onion and garlic, place in the mixing bowl and chop for 3 sec/speed 7. Scrape down with the spatula.

Prepare ground meat

Thermomix® Setting
20 sec/Speed 4

Add 400 g ground beef, 1 egg (M), 50 g breadcrumbs, chili flakes and salt to the onion-garlic mixture in the mixing bowl and mix for 20 sec/speed 4.

Shape Cevapcici

Quarter the ground meat mixture and shape it into elongated Cevapcici around 4 long wooden skewers. Drizzle with 2 tbsp oil all around.

Prepare salad

Wash the romaine lettuce and mint and shake dry. Cut the lettuce leaves into fine strips.

Fry Cevapcici

Fry the cevapcici on the grill over medium heat for about 10 minutes, turning once.

Toast bread pockets

Toast bread pockets on the grill for 1 minute on each side, then open (cut if necessary).

Fill pita pockets

Fill bread pockets with red cabbage, lettuce, mint, some hummus and yogurt. Place 1 Cevapcici inside and pull out the skewer. Serve sprinkled with chili flakes.
