Description

This sweet and savory chicken is a family favorite! I've been making it for years, and it's always a hit. The combination of ketchup, sugar, soy sauce, and lemon juice creates a delicious glaze that coats the chicken perfectly. It's incredibly easy to make, especially with the Thermomix®, and it's ready in under an hour. Perfect for a weeknight dinner or a casual get-together. Serve it with rice or your favorite side dish for a complete meal. This recipe is also great for meal prepping!

Ingredients (8 ingredients)

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 piece onion, chopped
  • 4 piece skinless, boneless chicken breasts
  • 3 tbsp ketchup
  • 3 tbsp white sugar
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper

Preparation (5 steps)

Chop the onion

Add the onion to the mixing bowl and chop for 3 seconds on speed 5.

Sauté the onion

Add the olive oil to the mixing bowl with the chopped onion and sauté for 3 minutes at 120°C on speed 1.

Sear the chicken

Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken breasts and cook until lightly browned, about 1 to 2 minutes per side. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.

Prepare the sauce

Add the ketchup, sugar, soy sauce, lemon juice, and ground black pepper to the mixing bowl. Mix for 10 seconds on speed 3.

Simmer the chicken in sauce

Pour the sauce over the chicken in the skillet. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat. Cover and simmer until the chicken is no longer pink in the center and the juices run clear, about 25 to 35 minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).
