Description

This apple crumble is a comforting classic, perfect for a cozy autumn evening. I've been making this recipe for years, and it's always a hit! The Bramley apples provide a lovely tartness that's balanced by the sweet, golden crumble topping. It's incredibly easy to prepare, especially with the Thermomix®, and the warm, comforting flavors are simply irresistible. Serve it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of cream for an extra special treat. This is a vegetarian dessert that everyone will love.

Ingredients (7 ingredients)

  • 575 g Bramley apple
  • 2 tbsp golden caster sugar
  • 175 g plain flour
  • 110 g golden caster sugar
  • 110 g cold butter
  • 1 tbsp rolled oats
  • 1 tbsp demerara sugar

Preparation (8 steps)

Preheat the oven

Preheat the oven to 190°C (170°C fan/gas mark 5).

Prepare the apples

Peel, core, and slice 575g Bramley apples. Toss them with 2 tbsp golden caster sugar in a 23cm round baking dish (at least 5cm deep) or a 20cm square dish. Flatten the apples with your hand.

Combine flour and sugar

Place 175g plain flour and 110g golden caster sugar into the Thermomix bowl along with a pinch of salt.

Make the crumble

Thermomix® Setting

Add 110g cold butter, sliced, to the Thermomix bowl. Process for 20 Sec./Stufe 4 until the mixture resembles moist breadcrumbs. Use the spatula to scrape down the sides of the bowl if needed.

Assemble the crumble

Pour the crumble mixture over the apples in the baking dish, forming a pile in the center. Use a fork to even out the crumble over the apples.

Finish the crumble

Gently press the surface of the crumble with the back of a fork to help it hold together and crisp up. Lightly drag the fork over the top for a decorative finish.

Add oats and sugar

Sprinkle 1 tbsp rolled oats and 1 tbsp demerara sugar evenly over the top of the crumble, if desired.

Bake the crumble

Place the baking dish on a baking tray and bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the apples are very soft when pierced with a knife. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
