Description

This apple crumble sheet cake is a true classic that always tastes good! I especially like to bake it in autumn when the apples are fresh from the tree. The juicy apple sauce base harmonizes perfectly with the crispy crumbles. If you like, you can mix chopped walnuts into the apple mixture - this gives the cake an additional nutty note. The preparation is child's play with the Thermomix® and the cake is ready in no time. A piece of cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream - simply delicious!

  • 300 g Flour
  • 200 g Margarine or Butter
  • 100 g Sugar
  • 1 piece Egg(s)
  • 1 Pck. Vanilla sugar
  • 6 piece Apples e.g. Elstar
  • 350 g Apple sauce
  • 200 g Margarine or Butter
  • 275 g Flour
  • 125 g Sugar
  • 1 TL, gestr. Cinnamon
  • 1 Prise(n) Salt
  • Walnuts or other nuts

Prepare dough

Thermomix® Setting
2 min/Kneading speed

Place 300 g flour, 200 g margarine or butter, 100 g sugar, 1 egg and 1 packet of vanilla sugar in the mixing bowl and process into a dough for 2 min./kneading stage.

Roll out dough and spread on baking sheet

Remove the dough from the mixing bowl, roll it out on a lightly floured work surface and spread it on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. I use a fruit cake tin, which is slightly smaller than a normal baking sheet.

Prepare apples and mix with apple sauce

Peel, core and cut 6 apples into pieces. Mix the apple pieces with 350 g apple sauce in a bowl.

Spread apple mixture on dough

Spread the apple-apple sauce mixture evenly on the dough base.

Prepare crumbles

Thermomix® Setting
3 min/122°F/Speed 2 50

Put 200 g margarine or butter in the mixing bowl and melt for 3 min./50°C/speed 2.

Make crumble dough

Thermomix® Setting
20 sec/Speed 4

Add 275 g flour, 125 g sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon and 1 pinch of salt to the melted margarine or butter in the mixing bowl and mix for 20 sec./speed 4.

Shape and distribute crumbles

Remove the crumble dough from the mixing bowl and crumble into crumbles with your hands. Distribute the crumbles evenly over the apple mixture. Optional: Spread chopped walnuts or other nuts on the apple mixture before the crumbles.

Bake cake

Bake the cake in a preheated oven on the middle shelf at 175°C hot air for approx. 45 minutes. The baking time may vary depending on the oven, so watch the cake while baking so that the crumbles do not get too dark.
