Description

This blueberry liqueur is a poem! I make it every year when the blueberries in the garden are ripe. The combination of fruity blueberries, fresh lemon and a hint of vanilla is simply unbeatable. It tastes pure, on ice or as a base for cocktails. The preparation is very easy, but you need some patience, as the liqueur has to steep for a few weeks. But the wait is worth it! Perfect as a small gift or for cozy evenings with friends. An absolute must for all blueberry lovers!

Ingredients (5 ingredients)

  • 500 g Blueberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 piece Lemon Organic
  • 1 piece Vanilla bean
  • 250 g Sugar
  • 500 ml Grain alcohol or Vodka (38%)

Preparation (8 steps)

1

Prepare blueberries

Wash 500 g fresh blueberries and drain in a sieve. Drain thawed frozen blueberries as well.

2

Prepare lemon zest

Wash 1 organic lemon with hot water, dry it and peel the zest thinly with a zester or a knife. Make sure that no white skin is included, as it tastes bitter.

3

Extract vanilla pulp

Cut 1 vanilla bean lengthwise and scrape out the pulp with a knife.

4

Mix ingredients

Place the prepared blueberries, 250 g sugar, the vanilla bean, the vanilla pulp and the lemon zest in a large, sterilized glass jar.

5

Add alcohol

Pour 500 ml grain alcohol or vodka (38%) over the ingredients in the jar, so that everything is well covered.

6

Let the liqueur steep

Close the jar and let the liqueur steep in a cool, dark place for 4–6 weeks. Occasionally shake the jar lightly so that the sugar dissolves completely and the flavors are well distributed.

7

Strain the liqueur

After the maturation period, strain the liqueur through a fine sieve or cheesecloth. For this, place the mixing bowl with the sieve and carefully pour the liqueur into it. The solid components remain in the sieve.

8

Pour the liqueur

Pour the strained blueberry liqueur into sterilized bottles and close them well. Store the blueberry liqueur in a cool, dark place. It is best to store opened bottles in the refrigerator.
