Description

These battered fish bites are a classic of home cooking, perfect for sharing at a family gathering or as a delicious appetizer. The grouper, a white fish with firm flesh, is marinated in a mixture of soy sauce, garlic, and spices, which gives it a very special flavor. The batter, made with flour, shrimp consommé, and a touch of baking soda, is crispy and golden. The key is to fry the pieces of fish in very hot oil, without crowding them, so that they are perfect. Served in tacos with corn tortillas, green salsa, and a refreshing cabbage salad, they are a real treat! Preparing them with the Thermomix® makes the process much easier, ensuring a homogeneous dough and a always perfect result. Dare to try them!

Ingredients (10 ingredients)

  • 1 kg fish (grouper)
  • 0.5 tsp baking soda
  • 1 oz cooking oil (separate for frying)
  • 1 cube shrimp consommé
  • soy sauce
  • salt
  • pepper
  • garlic powder / dehydrated garlic
  • 1.5 cup wheat flour
  • 2 cup water

Preparation (6 steps)

Cut the fish

Cut 1 kg of fish (grouper) into small pieces approximately 5 cm long and 1 cm thick. Make sure the cut is thin.

Marinate the fish

In a container, marinate the cut fish with soy sauce, garlic powder, a little salt and a little pepper. Let marinate for approximately 1 hour.

Prepare the batter

In the Thermomix bowl, add 1 1/2 cups of wheat flour, 1 cube of crumbled shrimp consommé, 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda and 1 oz of oil. Mix 5 sec./Speed 4.

Add the water and mix

With the Thermomix running at Speed 4, add 2 cups of water little by little until a thick paste is obtained. Mix for 20 sec./Speed 4.

Batter and fry the fish

Dip the marinated fish in the prepared batter. In a pan with plenty of hot oil, fry the battered fish little by little, without stacking them, until golden brown.

Prepare the cabbage salad (optional)

In a bowl, mix shredded cabbage, purple onion in salt, strips of roasted green chili, shredded carrot, a little mayonnaise, a touch of mustard and pepper to taste. To reserve.
