Description

This simple dish with chicken strips and mushrooms is a true classic of Italian cuisine. I like to cook it when I need to be quick, but still want something delicious on the table. The combination of tender chicken and aromatic mushrooms is simply unbeatable. Perfect as a main course with a side dish of your choice, such as rice or potatoes. If you like, you can add a splash of white wine to give the dish a special touch. A quick and tasty dish for the whole family!

  • 500 g Chicken breast
  • 300 g Button mushrooms
  • 1 clove Garlic
  • 30 ml Extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1 pinch Pepper

Prepare chicken

If you bought a whole chicken breast, halve it and cut each half into two slices. Then cut the slices into strips about 2 cm wide. If the strips are too long, halve them.

Prepare mushrooms

Clean, wash and remove any remaining soil from the mushrooms. Then slice and set aside.

Chop garlic

Peel the garlic, put it in the mixing bowl and chop for 3 sec./speed 7. Scrape down with the spatula.

Sauté mushrooms

Put the sliced mushrooms in the mixing bowl and cook for 8 min./100°C/reverse rotation speed 1. Meanwhile, fry the chicken in a separate pan.

Its delicacy goes perfectly with the earthy flavor of the button mushrooms. The latter, once cooked, release an unmistakable aroma and a soft and pleasant consistency on the palate. The garlic, finely chopped, gives a pungent note that enhances the flavors of the other ingredients. Extra virgin olive oil, a fundamental ingredient of Mediterranean cuisine, binds everything together and gives a touch of richness. Salt and pepper, of course, are essential to balance the flavors. The preparation with the Thermomix® is incredibly simple and fast. It is important not to overload the bowl when adding the mushrooms, to ensure even cooking. If you want a more intense flavor, you can add a tablespoon of tomato paste while cooking the mushrooms. A tip: to prevent the chicken from becoming too dry, it is essential to cook it in a pan over high heat, quickly sealing it on all sides. For a vegetarian version, you can replace the chicken with smoked tofu cut into cubes. For a vegan variant, make sure that the oil used is of vegetable origin and does not contain animal derivatives. You can experiment with different spices, such as smoked paprika, turmeric or a pinch of chilli for a spicy touch. A sprig of fresh thyme added during the cooking of the mushrooms will give a delicious aroma. The "Chicken Strips with Mushrooms" is a versatile dish that can be combined with different types of side dishes. It is perfect with a simple basmati rice, baked potatoes or a creamy mashed potato. It can also be served with a steaming polenta or with grilled vegetables. A mixed salad with a light dressing will complete the meal in a balanced way.
