Description

These chocolate orange crescent cookies, prepared in the Thermomix®, are the perfect Christmas dessert. The main ingredients are flour, butter, sugar, egg, and orange zest. Preparation takes about 80 minutes and yields 30 servings. Ideal as a sweet breakfast, finger food, or with coffee during the winter season.

Ingredients (11 ingredients)

  • 200 g Wheat flour Type 405
  • 60 g Cornstarch
  • 1 TL Baking powder
  • 100 g Sugar
  • 1 Prise(n) Salt
  • 1 Stück Egg (room temperature)
  • 1 Pck. Grated orange zest
  • 125 g Butter
  • 100 g Bittersweet chocolate
  • Flour for the work surface
  • 1 Pck. Dark chocolate glaze

Preparation (8 steps)

Mix dry ingredients

Place 200 g wheat flour type 405, 60 g cornstarch, 1 tsp baking powder, 100 g sugar and 1 pinch of salt in the mixing bowl and mix for 15 sec/speed 4.

Knead the dough

Thermomix® Setting
2 min/Kneading speed

Add 1 egg (room temperature), 1 packet of grated orange zest and 125 g butter in pieces and knead for 2 min/kneading stage to form a smooth dough.

Chop and knead in chocolate

Thermomix® Setting
30 sec/Linkslauf/Speed 2 Reverse

Coarsely chop 100 g of dark chocolate. Add the chopped chocolate to the mixing bowl and knead into the dough for 30 sec/Reverse/speed 2. If necessary, help with the spatula.

Chill dough

Shape the dough into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap and let rest in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.

Preheat oven

Preheat the oven to 175°C top/bottom heat.

Shape crescent cookies

Roll the dough into a thick strand on a lightly floured work surface. Cut off small portions (approx. 1-2 cm thick) with a knife and shape them into crescent cookies with your hands.

Bake crescent cookies

Place the crescent cookies on a baking sheet lined with baking paper with some space between them and bake in the preheated oven for approx. 8-12 minutes. Then let cool.

Melt and decorate the glaze

Melt the cake glaze in a water bath according to the package instructions and sprinkle on the chocolate orange crescent cookies.
