Description

This battered fish dish is a crispy delight that evokes childhood memories. The key is the light and airy batter, which is achieved with cold beer and a touch of baking powder. The hake or cod fillets, previously floured, are dipped in this mixture and fried until golden brown. The result is an irresistible bite, ideal to accompany with homemade chips or a fresh salad. Ingredients (7 ingredients)

  • 3 piece hake or cod fillets (skinless and boneless)
  • 100 grs flour (+ a little more to flour the fish)
  • 150 ml cold beer
  • 1 cucharadita baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch pepper
  • 1 piece sunflower oil (for frying)

Preparation of the batter

In the Thermomix bowl, add 100 g of flour, salt, pepper and 1 teaspoon of baking powder. Mix for 10 sec./Speed 4 to combine the dry ingredients. Then, add 150 ml of cold beer and mix for 20 sec./Speed 3 until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. Remove the batter from the bowl and reserve in a bowl.

Add 150 ml of cold beer to the previous mixture and mix for 20 sec./Speed 3 until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. Remove the batter from the bowl and reserve in a bowl.

Preparation of the fish

Cut 3-4 hake or cod fillets (skinless and boneless) into individual portions. Season each fillet with salt and pepper. Lightly flour each piece of fish, making sure they are well covered.

Battering and frying the fish

Dip each piece of fish in the batter, making sure they are completely covered. Heat plenty of sunflower oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Fry the battered fish fillets for 3-4 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.

Serving

Remove the fried fish fillets and place them on absorbent paper to remove excess oil. Serve immediately, accompanied by chips or a fresh salad.
