Description

This festive spiced wine, prepared in the Thermomix®, warms you on cold winter days. The main ingredients are red wine, rum, cinnamon stick, cardamom and cloves. With a preparation time of 735 minutes (of which 20 minutes are active working time), the recipe yields 8 servings. Ideal as a warm drink for Christmas and winter occasions.

Ingredients (9 ingredients)

  • 1 l Red wine
  • 80 ml Rum
  • 100 g Sugar
  • 1 Stk Cinnamon stick
  • 2 TL Cardamom capsules
  • 3 cm Ginger
  • 5 Stk Cloves
  • 100 g Raisins
  • 30 g Almond slivers

Preparation (5 steps)

Prepare spices

Coarsely crush the cardamom capsules in a mortar. Peel the ginger and cut into slices.

Prepare Glögg base in the Thermomix

Thermomix® Setting
15 min/158°F/Speed 2 70

Put 1 l red wine, 80 ml rum, 100 g sugar, 1 cinnamon stick, the crushed cardamom capsules, the ginger slices, 5 cloves and 60 g raisins into the mixing bowl. Heat for 15 min./70°C/speed 2, making sure that the liquid does not boil. Run the spatula along the bottom to ensure that the sugar dissolves completely.

Let Glögg steep

Pour the Glögg from the mixing bowl into a suitable container and let it steep overnight (approx. 12 hours) so that the flavors can develop.

Filter Glögg

The next day, pour the Glögg through a sieve to filter out the spices and raisins. Pour the filtered Glögg back into the mixing bowl.

Finalize Glögg

Thermomix® Setting
5 min/140°F/Speed 1 60

Put the remaining 40 g of raisins and 30 g of almond slivers into the mixing bowl. Heat the Glögg for 5 min./60°C/speed 1. Then serve.
