About this recipe

This dish of garlic fish fillets with lemon has a special place in my heart. I learned it from my grandmother, who always said that simplicity is the key to good cooking. She prepared it with the fresh fish that my grandfather fished in the Mediterranean, and the aroma of garlic and lemon flooded the whole house. Although I now live far from the sea, I still prepare this recipe to remember those happy moments. The white fish fillets, whether they are snapper, tilapia or sea bass, are the basis of this dish. Its smooth texture and delicate flavor are perfectly complemented by the garlic and lemon. It is important to choose fresh and good quality fillets, as this will make a difference in the final result. Salt and pepper enhance the natural flavor of the fish, while the garlic provides a spicy and aromatic touch. Extra virgin olive oil, with its fruity flavor, helps create a rich and tasty sauce. Butter, although optional, adds a touch of creaminess and smoothness. The lemon, with its refreshing acidity, balances the flavors and provides an irresistible citrus aroma. Finally, the chopped fresh parsley adds a touch of color and freshness. To prepare this dish in the Thermomix®, it is essential to chop the garlic finely. The Thermomix® facilitates this task, but it is important not to exceed the chopping time to prevent the garlic from becoming a paste. When sautéing the garlic, it is crucial to watch it closely and stir it with the spatula to prevent it from burning, as this would ruin the flavor of the dish. When cooking the fish, it is important to use the "Sanftrührstufe/Linkslauf" function to prevent it from crumbling. If the fillets are very thin, they may need less cooking time. It is important to taste the fish to make sure it is cooked but not dry. If you want to give this dish a different touch, you can add other spices, such as sweet or spicy paprika, oregano or thyme. For a vegetarian or vegan version, you can substitute the fish with firm tofu cut into fillets and marinated with soy sauce and ginger. This dish of garlic fish fillets with lemon is very versatile and can be accompanied with a wide variety of side dishes. A fresh salad with lettuce, tomato and cucumber is a light and refreshing option. White rice, with its neutral flavor, complements the flavor of the fish very well. Steamed potatoes, with their soft and creamy texture, are another delicious option. You can also serve this dish with sautéed vegetables, such as asparagus, zucchini or peppers. If you have leftover fish, you can store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for a maximum of two days. To reheat it, you can heat it in the microwave or in a pan over low heat. You can also prepare the garlic in advance and store it in the refrigerator until it is time to cook the fish.
