Description

This puff pastry sunflower with ham and Parmesan is a savory finger food that is ideal as an appetizer or snack for parties and brunch. The preparation is simple and takes about 50 minutes. The dish is hearty and has a Mediterranean touch and can be served warm or cold.

Ingredients (8 ingredients)

  • 1 packet Cooked ham - thinly sliced
  • 1 container Tomato puree
  • 1 pinch Parmesan
  • 2 piece Puff pastry
  • 1 piece Egg yolk
  • 1 tbsp Milk
  • 1 pinch Sesame
  • 1 container Creme fraiche

Preparation (13 steps)

1

Prepare dough

Carefully roll out the first roll of puff pastry on a baking sheet.

2

Creme fraiche

Spread creme fraiche on the puff pastry.

2

Season tomato puree

Season tomato puree with salt and pepper and spread evenly on the rolled out puff pastry. Be careful not to use too much sauce, otherwise the dough will become too soft.

3

Prepare Parmesan

Thermomix® Setting
5 sec/Speed 8

Put Parmesan in the mixing bowl and chop for 5 sec./speed 8 or with a grater.

5 sec
4

Distribute Parmesan

Remove the chopped Parmesan from the mixing bowl and spread evenly on the puff pastry spread with tomato puree.

5

Prepare cooked ham

Cut cooked ham into strips and spread evenly on the puff pastry.

6

Place second sheet of dough

Carefully place the second sheet of dough over the filling and press the edges down lightly.

7

Cut sunflower shape

With a sharp knife, first cut a cross into the dough, then continue until 16 uniform strips are created that lie around the middle. Place a small round bowl in the middle so that the circle is preserved.

8

Turn strips

Carefully twist each strip outwards twice, creating a sunflower shape.

9

Prepare egg yolk-milk mixture

Thermomix® Setting
10 sec/Speed 3

Mix 1 egg yolk and 1 tablespoon of milk.

10 sec
10

Brush sunflower

Brush the sunflower with the whisked egg yolk-milk mixture.

11

Sprinkle with sesame seeds (optional)

If you like, you can sprinkle the sunflower with sesame seeds.

12

Bake

Bake the puff pastry sunflower in a preheated oven at 180 °C top/bottom heat for approx. 30 minutes until golden brown.
