Description

This Brussels sprouts casserole is a hearty main course for the cold season. Baked with sausage and cheese, it is a savory dish for the whole family. Preparation takes about 50 minutes and is moderately difficult. Ideal for a warming lunch or dinner.

Ingredients (11 ingredients)

  • 1 kg Brussels sprouts
  • 200 g Sausage, small, smoked
  • 2 EL Butter
  • 1 EL Flour
  • 1 Liter Milk
  • Sugar
  • Nutmeg
  • Salt
  • 1 Stück Egg(s)
  • 100 g Parsley
  • Gouda, grated

Preparation (5 steps)

Prepare Brussels sprouts

Cook Brussels sprouts in salted water, covered, for 15-20 minutes. Cut sausage into slices. Drain Brussels sprouts and save 1/8 l of the broth. Preheat oven to 220 °C.

Prepare roux

Add butter to the mixing bowl and melt for 2 minutes / 120°C / speed 1. Add flour and sauté for 3 minutes / 100°C / speed 2 until light yellow.

Prepare sauce

Gradually add hot broth and milk and cook for 5 minutes / 90°C / speed 3 while stirring.

Refine sauce

Remove the mixing bowl from the Thermomix. Stir in sugar, nutmeg, salt and egg.

Prepare casserole

Place Brussels sprouts and sausage in a buttered dish. Pour the sauce over it and sprinkle with cheese. Bake the casserole for about 15 minutes.
