Description

This cheese macaroni casserole is a hearty and filling dish that can be prepared quickly and easily in the Thermomix®. The creamy cheese sauce with strong cheddar makes this casserole a popular dish for the whole family. With a preparation time of only 50 minutes, it is ideal for everyday use. Perfect as a main course or side dish.

Ingredients (8 ingredients)

  • 300 g Pasta - macaroni or elbow macaroni
  • 30 g Butter
  • 20 g Flour
  • 400 ml Milk
  • 200 g Strong cheddar - grated
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Chili

Preparation (8 steps)

Cook pasta

Cook 300 g macaroni or elbow macaroni according to the package instructions in a separate pot. Then drain and set aside.

Melt butter

Put 30 g butter in the mixing bowl and melt for 3 min./50°C/speed 1.

Prepare roux

Add 20 g flour to the melted butter in the mixing bowl and stir for 2 min./100°C/speed 2.

Add milk and simmer

Thermomix® Setting

Add 400 ml milk to the mixing bowl and simmer for 8 min./90°C/speed 3, stirring, until the sauce thickens. Use a spatula to push the mixture away from the edge.

Melt cheese

2 min/140°F/Linkslauf Speed 2 60 Reverse

Add 2/3 (approx. 133 g) of the grated cheddar (200 g total) to the mixing bowl and stir in for 2 min./60°C/reverse rotation speed 2 until the cheese is melted.

Season sauce

10 sec/Speed 3

Season the cheese sauce with salt, pepper and chili to taste in the mixing bowl 10 sec./speed 3.

Mix pasta and sauce

Put the cooked pasta in a casserole dish and mix with the cheese sauce from the mixing bowl.

Bake casserole

Sprinkle the remaining grated cheddar (approx. 67 g) over the casserole and bake in a preheated oven at 200 degrees top and bottom heat for approx. 20 minutes until the cheese is golden brown.
