Description

This Königsberg Hotpot, prepared in the Thermomix®, is a hearty main course with ground meat, potatoes, and onions. Preparation takes about 50 minutes, with 30 minutes of active work. The recipe is designed for 4 servings and is particularly well-suited as a classic family meal in the cold season. The combination of meat and potatoes makes it a satisfying dish.

Ingredients (15 ingredients)

  • 1 Stück Onion, halved
  • 500 g Mixed ground meat
  • 60 g Breadcrumbs
  • 2 Stück Eggs
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 500 g Water
  • 600 g Potatoes, halved
  • 400 g Carrots, diced
  • 300 g Peas (frozen)
  • 200 g Cream
  • 40 g Butter
  • 40 g Wheat flour Type 405
  • 40 g Capers (jar), drained
  • Parsley leaves for garnish

Preparation (10 steps)

Chop the onion

Place 1 halved onion in the mixing bowl and chop for 5 sec/speed 5. Scrape down the sides with the spatula.

Prepare the meatball mixture

Add 500 g mixed ground meat, 60 g breadcrumbs, 2 eggs, 1 tsp salt, and 3 pinches of pepper and mix for 10 sec/speed 3.

Form the meatballs and prepare

Form 12 meatballs from the mixture and place them in the Varoma®. Briefly rinse the mixing bowl and add 500 g water.

Prepare the vegetables and place them in the Varoma

Insert the simmering basket into the mixing bowl, weigh in 600 g halved potatoes, and season with 1/2 tsp salt. Distribute 400 g diced carrots on the Varoma® tray.

Steam the meatballs and vegetables

Attach the Varoma® and steam for 20 min/Varoma/speed 1.

Add peas and continue steaming

Add 300 g peas (frozen) to the Varoma® tray and continue steaming for 10 min/Varoma/speed 1.

Remove the steamed food and keep warm

Remove the Varoma®, remove the simmering basket with the help of the spatula, and keep warm. Empty the mixing bowl, collecting the cooking liquid (weigh out 300g).

Prepare the sauce

Add 300 g cooking liquid, 200 g cream, 40 g butter, 40 g wheat flour Type 405, 1 tsp salt, and 3 pinches of pepper to the mixing bowl. Simmer everything for 7 min/90°C/speed 4.

Add meatballs and vegetables

Add meatballs, vegetables, and 40 g capers (jar), drained, to the sauce and mix with the spatula.

Serve

Garnish the Königsberg Hotpot with some parsley leaves and serve with the potatoes.
