Description

This hearty toast sandwich is a tribute to the famous Francesinha from Porto! I have simplified the recipe a bit with the Thermomix® without losing the authentic taste. The secret lies in the spicy sauce, which is refined with port wine. Perfect for a hearty brunch or as a filling snack in between. The preparation is uncomplicated and quick, ideal if you need something quick. If you like it a little spicier, feel free to add some more Piri-Piri. An absolute must for all lovers of Portuguese cuisine!

Ingredients (13 ingredients)

  • 1 cube Meat broth
  • 0.33 cl Beer
  • 1 tbsp Potato starch
  • 2 slice Cooked ham
  • 100 ml Milk
  • 1 tbsp Margarine
  • 3 slice Toast bread
  • 2 tbsp Tomato paste
  • Piri-Piri
  • 2 slice Cheese
  • 2 piece Sausages
  • 1 piece Beef steak(s) cut lengthwise and briefly fried
  • 1 Glas Port wine

Preparation (3 steps)

Prepare sauce

Thermomix® Setting
10 min/212°F/Speed 2 100

Add 1 cube of meat broth, 0.33 cl beer, 1 tbsp potato starch, 100 ml milk, 1 tbsp margarine, 2 tbsp tomato paste, some Piri-Piri and 1 glass of port wine to the mixing bowl and mix for 10 sec/speed 5. Then bring to the boil for 10 min./100°C/speed 2 and leave to thicken. Use the spatula to prevent burning.

Puree sauce

Puree the sauce for 10 sec/speed 8 to obtain a fine consistency.

Cover and bake sandwich

Cover 3 slices of toast bread with 1 beef steak (cut lengthwise and briefly fried in the pan), 2 slices of cooked ham and 2 sausages. Cover with 2 slices of cheese and bake in a preheated oven until the cheese begins to melt. Strain the sauce and pour over the finished sandwich.
