Description

This recipe for a hearty sandwich specialty is an absolute delight! The combination of crispy bread, spicy mustard, juicy ham, tender roast pork, crunchy pickles and melted cheese is simply irresistible. Perfect for a quick lunch, a cozy brunch or as a hearty snack in between. The preparation is very simple and succeeds in no time. If you like it a little spicier, you can add some chili flakes. A real treat for all sandwich lovers!

Ingredients (9 ingredients)

  • 2 piece Baguette bread roll
  • 6 tbsp Butter
  • 4 tbsp Mustard, medium hot
  • 4 Scheibe/n Ham
  • 4 Scheibe/n Roast pork
  • 2 piece Pickle(s), large
  • 4 Scheibe/n Emmental cheese
  • 50 g Gruyère
  • Oil

Preparation (8 steps)

1

Prepare bread

Halve and cut open the baguette rolls. Spread the cut surfaces with 3 tablespoons of butter. The remaining butter will be needed later.

2

Toast bread

Toast the buttered bread halves in a pan over medium heat until golden brown. Then remove from the pan and set aside.

3

Fry ham

Heat some oil in a second pan and briefly fry the 4 slices of ham in it. Then remove from the pan and set aside.

4

Prepare cucumbers

Cut the 2 large pickles lengthwise into thin slices.

5

Top sandwich

Spread the toasted bread halves on both sides with 4 tablespoons of mustard. Then top with pickle slices, ham, 4 slices of roast pork, 4 slices of Emmental cheese and 50 g of Gruyère. Cover with the other bread half.

6

Toast sandwich

Spread the outsides of the sandwich with the remaining butter (3 tablespoons). Place a pan on the stove and place the sandwich in the pan over medium heat. Fry from both sides until golden brown and crispy.

7

Bake sandwich

Place the sandwich in a heat-resistant dish and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C top/bottom heat until the cheese is melted.

8

Serve

Halve the sandwich and serve with chips and pickles as desired.
