Description

This orange almond cake is a poem! By using the whole orange, it becomes incredibly juicy and aromatic. The ground almonds give it a fine texture and a nutty taste. I especially like to bake it in winter when oranges are in season. It is perfect for Sunday coffee or as a birthday cake. The cake is easy to prepare and is guaranteed to succeed. An absolute must for all cake lovers! If you like, you can refine it with a glaze of powdered sugar and orange juice.

Ingredients (7 ingredients)

  • 1 piece Orange(s)
  • 175 g Butter
  • 175 g Sugar light Muscovado
  • 175 g Flour self-raising
  • 0.5 tsp Baking soda
  • 50 g Almond(s) ground
  • 3 piece Egg(s)

Preparation (5 steps)

Preheat oven and prepare tin

Preheat the oven to 190°C top/bottom heat (convection 170°C). Line a round cake tin (23 cm diameter) with baking paper or butter it.

Prepare orange

Wash the orange, quarter it and remove the seeds. Put the orange pieces into the mixing bowl and puree for 15 sec./speed 8.

Prepare dough

20 sec/Speed 4

Add butter, sugar, orange puree, eggs, flour, baking soda and ground almonds to the mixing bowl and stir for 20 sec./speed 4 until a smooth dough is formed. If necessary, use the spatula to push down from the edge and stir again briefly.

Bake cake

Pour the dough into the prepared cake tin and smooth it out. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until the cake is golden brown. Do a toothpick test!

Let the cake cool and serve

After baking, leave the cake to cool in the tin for 5 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack and leave to cool completely. Dust with icing sugar before serving.
