Description

This dish is a quick and easy way to bring a delicious vegetarian meal to the table. The sweet and sour napa cabbage is a great combination of crisp vegetables and an aromatic sauce. I like to make it when I need something quick and still want to eat something healthy. The rice makes the dish filling and the preparation in the Thermomix® is super straightforward. Perfect for a relaxed evening or as meal prep for lunch!

Ingredients (15 ingredients)

  • 250 g Basmati rice
  • 500 g Napa cabbage
  • 1 piece red bell pepper
  • 1 Möhre Carrot
  • 1 Frühlingszwiebel Spring onion
  • 2 clove Garlic
  • 10 g Ginger (fresh)
  • 1 tbsp Sesame oil
  • 3 tbsp Rice vinegar
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp Ketchup
  • 2 tbsp Honey
  • 1 tsp Cornstarch
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Preparation (6 steps)

Cook rice

Cook 250 g basmati rice according to package instructions in a separate pot or rice cooker.

Prepare vegetables

Remove the stalk from 500 g of napa cabbage, wash and cut into strips. Remove the stalk, white skin and seeds from 1 red bell pepper, wash and cut into fine strips. Peel 1 carrot, cut off the ends and also cut into fine strips. Remove the root and dark green from 1 spring onion, wash and cut into thin rings.

Chop garlic and ginger

Thermomix® Setting

Peel 2 cloves of garlic and 10 g of ginger and put them in the mixing bowl. Chop for 3 sec./level 7.

Sauté vegetables

Thermomix® Setting
4 min/248°F/Linkslauf Speed 1 120 Reverse

Add 1 tbsp sesame oil and sauté for 3 min./120°C/level 1. Add napa cabbage, pepper and carrot and sauté for another 4 min./120°C/reverse rotation level 1.

Prepare sauce

Thermomix® Setting
5 min/212°F/Speed 2 100

Put 3 tbsp rice vinegar, 2 tbsp soy sauce, 2 tbsp ketchup and 2 tbsp honey in the mixing bowl. Dissolve 1 tsp cornstarch in 50 ml water and add to the mixing bowl as well. Bring to the boil for 5 min./100°C/level 2 without a measuring cup until the sauce thickens slightly.

Season and serve

Add the spring onion rings and season with salt and pepper. Distribute the rice on plates, put the sweet and sour napa cabbage mixture on top and serve.
