Description

Hearty meatballs in a creamy mustard sauce, perfect with potatoes or rice.

Ingredients (18 ingredients)

  • 500 g Minced meat, mixed - half beef, half pork
  • 200 g Carrots
  • 100 g Frozen peas
  • 50 g Onion
  • 60 g Butter
  • 3 EL Cream
  • 2 EL Breadcrumbs
  • 1 EL Mustard
  • 1 Stück Egg
  • 1.5 TL Salt
  • 0.25 TL black Pepper from the mill
  • 250 g Cream
  • 250 ml Beef stock
  • 1 EL Mustard
  • 1 EL Cornstarch
  • 1 EL Water
  • 1 Msp. black Pepper from the mill
  • nach Geschmack Salt

Preparation (10 steps)

Chop onion

Thermomix® Setting

Peel, quarter the onion and place in the mixing bowl. Chop 3 sec./level 5. Scrape down with the spatula.

Prepare minced meat

In a bowl, mix 2 tbsp breadcrumbs, 3 tbsp cream, 1 egg, 1 tbsp mustard, 1.5 tsp salt and ¼ tsp pepper.

Prepare carrots

Peel the 200 g carrots and cut diagonally into 0.5 cm thin slices. Weigh out the 100 g frozen peas into a small bowl and set aside.

Mix minced meat

Place the minced meat with the chopped onion and breadcrumb mixture in a bowl and mix well with your hands or a fork. Make sure you don't knead it too much, otherwise the meatballs will be too firm.

Shape meatballs

Use a wet tablespoon to portion the minced meat and roll into walnut-sized balls with damp hands.

Fry meatballs

Melt 30 g butter in a large pan and fry the meatballs all over for approx. 5 minutes until they are nicely browned and cooked through. Remove the meatballs from the pan and set aside.

Sauté carrots

Leave the remaining frying fat from the meatballs in the pan. Add the sliced carrots and fry for 5 minutes over medium heat.

Prepare sauce

Add the frozen peas, 250 g cream, 250 ml beef stock and 1 tbsp mustard to the carrots in the pan. Bring the liquids to a boil once.

Thicken sauce

Mix 1 tbsp water with 1 tbsp cornstarch in a small container. Add the starch mixture drop by drop to the simmering sauce until the desired consistency is reached. Repeat if necessary. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Add meatballs and serve

Add the meatballs back to the sauce and serve. Boiled potatoes, cooked rice or mashed potatoes are a suitable side dish.
