Description

This fragrant Basmati rice, Indian style, is an absolute highlight! I often make it as a side dish to curries or simply as a light lunch. The rice is refined with aromatic spices such as turmeric, cumin and Garam Masala and refined with roasted almonds. The preparation in the Thermomix® is super easy and quick. A touch of chili provides a pleasant spiciness. Perfect for those who love Indian cuisine and are looking for an uncomplicated rice preparation. Also great as a base for bowls!

Ingredients (13 ingredients)

  • 200 g Basmati rice
  • 1 piece Onion
  • 2 clove Garlic
  • 10 g Ginger
  • 0.5 piece Chili pepper (red)
  • 30 g Flaked almonds
  • 2 tbsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 0.5 tsp Ground cumin
  • 1 tsp Ground turmeric
  • 2 tsp Garam Masala
  • 0.5 tsp Coriander seeds
  • 2 piece Cardamom pods

Preparation (6 steps)

Prepare rice

Wash 200 g Basmati rice in a sieve under running water, place in a bowl with lukewarm water and leave for 20 minutes.

Chop onion, garlic and ginger

Put 1 peeled onion in the mixing bowl and chop for 3 sec./speed 5. Add 2 cloves of garlic and 10 g of peeled ginger and chop for 3 sec./speed 7.

Sauté onion mixture

Add the chopped onion-garlic-ginger mixture to the mixing bowl with a little oil and sauté for 3 min./120°C/speed 1.

Add spices and sauté

Add 1 half of a chili pepper (cut into rings), 1 tsp sugar, 2 tbsp salt, 0.5 tsp ground cumin, 1 tsp ground turmeric, 2 tsp Garam Masala, 0.5 tsp coriander seeds and 2 cardamom pods and sauté for 2 min./120°C/speed 1.

Add almonds

Add 30 g of flaked almonds and stir in for 1 min./100°C/reverse rotation speed 1.

Add rice and water

20 min/212°F/Linkslauf Speed 1 100 Reverse

Add the drained rice to the mixing bowl. Add water according to package instructions (approx. 400ml) and cook for 20 min./100°C/reverse rotation speed 1. Don't forget the simmering basket!
