  • 3.25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.33 cup brown sugar
  • 2.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 0.125 pinch ground cloves
  • 0.75 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into chunks
  • 1 can pumpkin puree
  • 0.66 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.75 cup chopped pecans
  • 0.5 cup butter
  • 0.75 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1.5 tablespoons milk, or more as needed
  • 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preparation (10 steps)

Preheat Oven

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). This step is done outside of the Thermomix.

Combine Dry Ingredients

Add 3 ¼ cups all-purpose flour, ⅓ cup brown sugar, 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder, 1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon, ½ teaspoon baking soda, ½ teaspoon salt, ½ teaspoon ground ginger, and ⅛ pinch ground cloves to the mixing bowl. Mix for 10 Sec./Stufe 4 to combine.

Add Butter

15 sec/Speed 4

Add ¾ cup cold unsalted butter, cut into chunks, to the mixing bowl. Mix for 15 Sek./Stufe 4 until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Use the spatula to scrape down the sides of the bowl if needed.

Combine Wet Ingredients and Form Dough

20 sec/Speed 3

Add 1 (15 ounce) can pumpkin puree, ⅔ cup plain yogurt, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract to the mixing bowl. Mix for 20 Sek./Stufe 3 until a soft dough forms. Use the spatula to scrape down the sides of the bowl if needed.

Mix in Pecans

Thermomix® Setting
5 sec/Linkslauf Speed 2 Reverse

Add ¾ cup chopped pecans to the mixing bowl. Mix for 5 Sek./Linkslauf Stufe 2 to incorporate the pecans into the dough.

Shape and Cut Scones

Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and pat into two equal-size circles. Cut each circle into 8 wedges; transfer to a baking stone or baking sheet lined with parchment paper. This step is done outside of the Thermomix.

Bake Scones

Bake scones in the preheated oven until firm to the touch and lightly browned, 12 to 15 minutes. This step is done outside of the Thermomix.

Brown Butter Glaze

Thermomix® Setting
3 min/122°F/Speed 2, then 2 min/212°F/Speed 2 50

Add ½ cup butter to the mixing bowl. Melt for 3 Min./50°C/Stufe 2. Then, increase the temperature to 100°C and cook for 2 Min./Stufe 2 until the butter is foaming and nut-brown in color.

Make Glaze

Thermomix® Setting
20 sec/Speed 3

Add ¾ cup confectioners' sugar, 1 ½ tablespoons milk, and ½ teaspoon vanilla extract to the mixing bowl with the browned butter. Mix for 20 Sek./Stufe 3 until the sugar is dissolved and the glaze is shiny, adding more milk as necessary.

Glaze Scones

Drizzle glaze over cooled scones. This step is done outside of the Thermomix.
