Description

This savory ground meat cake with a crispy potato crust is a real eye-catcher at any party! I always like to make it because it is so easy to prepare and tastes incredibly good. The ground meat is refined with peppers, onions and spicy Ajvar, while the potato crust is baked with cheese. A hearty treat that tastes warm and cold and can be prepared super well. Perfect for a buffet or a cozy evening with friends!

Ingredients (17 ingredients)

  • 2 piece red bell pepper
  • 2 piece Onions
  • 5 tbsp Oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 1 tsp dried Oregano
  • 400 g Mett (seasoned ground pork)
  • 600 g mixed ground meat
  • 2 piece Eggs (size M)
  • 100 g Breadcrumbs
  • 2 tbsp Ajvar (spicy pepper paste)
  • 500 g Potatoes
  • 0.5 tsp Chili flakes
  • 75 g grated Gouda
  • 6 Stiele Parsley
  • Fat for the pan
  • Aluminum foil

Preparation (8 steps)

Prepare peppers and onions

Quarter, core and wash 2 red bell peppers. Peel 2 onions. Place peppers and onions in the mixing bowl and chop for 5 seconds/speed 5. Scrape down with the spatula.

Sauté vegetables

Thermomix® Setting
3 min/248°F/Speed 1 120

Add 5 tbsp oil, salt, pepper and 1 tsp dried oregano and sauté for 3 minutes/120°C/speed 1.

Prepare ground meat

Place 400 g seasoned ground pork, 600 g mixed ground meat, 2 eggs, 80 g breadcrumbs, 2 tbsp Ajvar, salt and pepper in a bowl. Add the pepper mixture from the mixing bowl and knead everything well.

Bake ground meat mixture

Grease a springform pan (24 cm Ø) and sprinkle with 20 g breadcrumbs. Wrap a piece of aluminum foil around the outside of the pan so that nothing can leak out. Add ground meat mixture and press down firmly. Bake in a preheated oven (electric oven: 250 °C/convection oven: 230 °C) for approx. 20 minutes. Reduce the temperature (electric oven: 200 °C/convection oven: 180 °C) and continue baking for approx. 15 minutes.

Prepare potatoes

Peel, wash and cut 500 g potatoes into approx. 1 cm cubes.

Fry potatoes

Heat 3 tbsp oil in a pan. Fry potatoes in it for about 15 minutes until crispy. Season with salt, pepper and ½ tsp chili flakes.

Finish baking cake

Spread roasted potatoes on the ground meat cake. Sprinkle 75 g grated Gouda on top and bake at the same temperature for about 10 minutes until done.

Arrange

Let the ground meat cake rest in the pan for about 10 minutes. Wash 6 sprigs of parsley, chop coarsely. Remove the ground meat cake from the pan and sprinkle with parsley.
