Description

These vanilla crescents are a classic Christmas pastry refined with almonds and powdered sugar. The preparation takes about 90 minutes and yields about 100 pieces. Ideal for the festive season and as a sweet treat with coffee or tea.

Ingredients (6 ingredients)

  • 250 g Flour
  • 175 g Butter or margarine
  • 100 g Ground almonds
  • 87 g Sugar
  • 3 Päckchen Vanilla sugar
  • 150 g Powdered sugar

Preparation (7 steps)

Sift flour

Sift 250 g flour onto a baking board. No Thermomix setting.

Add ingredients

Divide 175 g butter or margarine into small flakes and add to the flour with 100 g ground almonds, 87 g sugar and 1 packet of vanilla sugar. No Thermomix setting.

Knead dough

Thermomix® Setting

Chop the ingredients finely with a wide palette knife and then knead for 2 min./kneading level to form a smooth dough.

Chill dough

Let the dough rest in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. No Thermomix setting.

Shape crescents

Then form the dough into a thin (approx. little finger thick) roll and cut into 5 cm long pieces. Turn these pieces into rolls that become thinner at the ends and bend into crescents. No Thermomix setting.

Bake

Place on a lightly greased baking sheet and bake in a preheated oven (electric oven 200° C; gas oven level 3; convection oven level 4) until light golden brown in approx. 12 minutes. No Thermomix setting.

Loosen and roll crescents

Carefully remove the crescents from the sheet so that they do not break. Mix the remaining vanilla sugar and 150 g of sifted powdered sugar on a plate and roll the still hot crescents in it. No Thermomix setting.
