Description

This recipe for battered cauliflower with cheese and tomato sauce is a delight that I often prepare at home. The cauliflower, battered and filled with cheese, is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The homemade tomato sauce gives it a fresh and tasty touch that complements it perfectly. It is an ideal vegetarian dish for a family meal or an informal dinner. Also, it is a great way for children to eat vegetables. Go ahead and try it, you will love it! Ingredients (13 ingredients)

  • 1 pieza medium cauliflower
  • 500 gramos panela cheese cut into strips
  • 3 pieza egg
  • 140 gramos wheat flour
  • 0.5 cup vegetable oil for frying
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 pinch pepper to taste
  • 3 pieza tomatoes
  • 1 trozo white onion
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 piece serrano pepper (optional)
  • 1 rama fresh coriander
  • 1 cube chicken broth

Preparation (10 steps)

Separate and wash the cauliflower

Separate the cauliflower into medium florets. Wash each floret very well under cold water to remove any traces of dirt.

Cook the cauliflower

Place the cauliflower florets in the Thermomix bowl. Add water to cover and salt to taste. Cook for 10 Min./100°C/Reverse rotation/Speed 1 or until they are slightly soft. Drain and let cool completely.

Prepare the tomato sauce

Place the tomatoes, the piece of white onion, the garlic clove and the serrano pepper (optional) in the Thermomix bowl. Crush for 30 Sec./Speed 8 until a homogeneous sauce is obtained.

Cook the tomato sauce

10 min/212°F/Velocidad 2 100

Pour the sauce into the Thermomix bowl. Add the fresh coriander sprig and the chicken broth cube. Cook for 10 Min./100°C/Speed 2.

Prepare the batter

Separate the egg whites from the yolks. Place the egg whites in the Thermomix bowl with the butterfly attachment. Beat for 3 Min./Speed 3.5 until stiff peaks form. Remove the butterfly. Add the yolks little by little and mix for 10 Sec./Speed 3.

Fill the cauliflower

Embed the panela cheese strips between the cauliflower florets, being careful not to open them too much so that they do not break.

Flour the cauliflower

Flour each of the cheese-filled florets, sprinkling well so that the batter adheres better.

Batter and fry the cauliflower

Cover each floret with the batter mixture. Heat the vegetable oil in a pan. Fry the florets until they are evenly golden brown. Remove and let rest on absorbent paper.

Serve

Serve the battered cauliflower and pour a little of the sauce on top. Accompany with rice or salad.
