Description

This recipe for dark beer chicken is a hearty main course that is perfect for autumn. The chicken thighs are braised in a rich sauce made from dark beer, vegetables and spices. The Wundermix WunderSlicer V2 allows you to prepare the vegetables quickly and easily. The preparation time is about 40 minutes and the dish is designed for 4 servings.

Ingredients (12 ingredients)

  • 1 kg Chicken thighs
  • 330 ml dark beer
  • 200 g Onions
  • 2 Stück Garlic cloves
  • 150 g Carrots
  • 100 g red bell pepper
  • 50 g extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 TL sweet paprika powder
  • 1 Stück Bay leaf
  • Salt
  • freshly ground Pepper
  • 1 EL Cornstarch

Preparation (7 steps)

Prepare vegetables

Cut 200g onions, 2 garlic cloves, 150g carrots and 100g red bell pepper into coarse pieces with the Wundermix WunderSlicer V2. Place the WunderSlicer V2 on the mixing bowl lid and select the coarse disc. Collect the cut material and set aside.

Chop vegetables

Put the prepared vegetables in the mixing bowl and chop for 5 sec./speed 5. Push down with the spatula.

Sauté vegetables

Add 50g extra virgin olive oil and sauté for 8 min./120°C/speed 1.

Add paprika powder

Stir in 1 tsp sweet paprika powder and stir in for 10 sec./speed 1.

Cook chicken

25 min / 100 °C / Linkslauf / Löffelstufe 212°F Reverse

Salt and pepper 8 chicken thighs (approx. 1 kg, with or without skin) and place in the pot with 330 ml dark beer (e.g. Guinness or a German dark beer variety) and 1 bay leaf. Cook for 25 minutes / 100 °C / reverse / spoon setting.

Thicken sauce (optional)

Check whether the chicken is fork-tender. For a thicker sauce: stir 1 tbsp cornstarch in some water and simmer for 3 minutes / 100 °C / reverse / spoon setting.

Serve

Let rest for 5 minutes - then serve hot! Crispy fried potatoes, rice or simply a fresh baguette to soak up the sauce are a good accompaniment.
