Description

This roast chicken is a recipe that I often make at home, especially when I have guests. The aroma of thyme and bay leaf permeates all the meat, making it juicy and delicious. The potatoes, cooked in the same chicken juice, are tender and full of flavor. It is a perfect dish to share with family or friends, ideal for a festive meal or simply to enjoy a good homemade dish. The preparation is simple, although it requires some time in the oven, but the result is worth it. A complete and comforting dish that always triumphs!

Ingredients (9 ingredients)

  • 1 piece Clean chicken
  • 2 sobres Garlics
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1 pinch Ground black pepper
  • 50 gramos Butter
  • 1 cucharada sopera Dried thyme
  • 4 hojas Bay leaf
  • 800 gramos Potatoes
  • 1 chorro Virgin olive oil

Garlic preparation

Separate a head of garlic in half. Peel the other head of garlic and separate half of the cloves. Slice half of the garlic cloves and reserve. Crush the other half of the garlic cloves in a mortar and reserve.

Preparation of flavored butter

Thermomix® Setting

Place 50 grams of butter in the Thermomix bowl. Add the dried thyme, crushed garlic, and two chopped bay leaves. Program 2 Min./50°C/Stufe 2.

Chicken marinade

Season the clean chicken inside and out with salt and pepper. Spread the chicken with the flavored butter mixture, making sure to cover it completely, both outside and inside.

Potato preparation

Peel and chop 800 grams of potatoes into wedges. Place the potatoes in an oven-safe dish along with the halves of the head of garlic. Place the chicken on top of the potatoes. Sprinkle with the sliced garlic and add the other two bay leaves.

Chicken baking

Drizzle the chicken and potatoes with a splash of virgin olive oil. Bake in a preheated oven at 200 ºC with heat from above and below for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes or 1 hour and a half, depending on the size of the chicken and the oven. Turn the chicken occasionally to cook evenly and baste with the resulting cooking liquid.
