Description

This hearty potato and ham casserole from the Thermomix® is a substantial main course for the whole family. Firm cooking potatoes, cooked ham and a creamy sauce made from butter, flour, vegetable stock and milk form the basis for this casserole classic. The preparation time is approx. 60 minutes, of which about 30 minutes are active working time. The recipe is designed for 6 servings and is ideal for a warm, filling family meal.

Ingredients (12 ingredients)

  • 1000 g firm cooking potatoes
  • 1 Stück Onion
  • 200 g Cooked ham
  • 3 EL Butter
  • 3 EL Flour
  • 200 ml Vegetable stock
  • 250 ml Milk
  • 1 TL Salt
  • nach Geschmack Pepper
  • 1 TL Sweet paprika powder
  • 0.5 TL Nutmeg
  • 150 g grated Cheese

Preparation (9 steps)

Prepare potatoes

Peel 1 kg firm cooking potatoes and cut into approx. 2 cm pieces. Set aside the peeled and cut potatoes.

Chop onion

Peel and quarter 1 onion and place in the mixing bowl. Chop for 3 sec./speed 5.

Sauté onion

Add 3 tbsp butter to the chopped onions in the mixing bowl and sauté for 3 min./120°C/speed 1.

Prepare roux

Add 3 tbsp flour to the onions in the mixing bowl and sauté for 2 min./100°C/speed 2.

Prepare sauce

Add 200 ml vegetable stock and 250 ml milk to the mixing bowl. Cook for 5 min./90°C/speed 3. Use a spatula to scrape the mixture from the edge.

Season sauce

Add 1 tsp salt, pepper to taste, 1 tsp sweet paprika powder and 1/2 tsp nutmeg to the mixing bowl and stir for 20 sec./speed 2.

Prepare ham

Cut 200 g cooked ham into small cubes and set aside.

Layer casserole

Mix the pre-cooked potato pieces, the ham cubes and the sauce from the mixing bowl in a casserole dish.

Add cheese and bake

Sprinkle 150 g grated cheese (e.g. Gouda) over the casserole. Bake the casserole in a preheated oven at 200°C top/bottom heat for 30 minutes until the cheese is golden brown.
