Description

This Turkish-style rice is an absolute must for anyone who loves simple but flavorful side dishes. I've been making it for years and it's always a hit! The short-grain rice is made particularly aromatic by roasting it with soup noodles and butter. The preparation is super easy and succeeds in the Thermomix® in no time at all. Perfect as a side dish to meat, vegetables or simply pure with a dollop of yogurt. A real all-rounder for everyday life!

Ingredients (6 ingredients)

  • 300 g Turkish short grain rice (Pirinc)
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 3 tbsp Oil
  • 3 tbsp Soup noodles
  • 1 tbsp Butter
  • 600 ml Water

Preparation (4 steps)

Prepare rice

Put the rice with 1 tsp salt in a bowl and pour boiling water over it so that the rice is well covered. Leave to stand for about 15 minutes. Then rinse the rice thoroughly with cold water until the water is clear. This removes excess starch from the rice. Drain the rice.

Roast soup noodles

Put 3 tbsp oil in the mixing bowl and heat for 3 min./120°C/speed 1. Then add 3 tbsp soup noodles and roast for 5 min./120°C/speed 1 until golden brown.

Fry rice

Thermomix® Setting
3 min/212°F/Speed 1 100

Add 1 tbsp butter and melt for 1 min./50°C/speed 1. Then add the drained rice and fry for 3 min./100°C/speed 1 until fragrant.

Cook rice

Thermomix® Setting
20 min/194°F/Speed 1 90

Add 600 ml water and 1 tsp salt and bring to the boil for 1 min./100°C/speed 1. Then reduce the temperature to 90°C and let it simmer for 20 min./90°C/speed 1 without a measuring cup until the water has been completely absorbed by the rice.
