Description

This cookies dough is a basic recipe for delicious Christmas cookies. The dough consists of wheat flour, sugar, butter and egg. Preparation takes about 45 minutes and yields approximately 36 cookies. Ideal for the whole family and perfect for the Christmas season.

Ingredients (4 ingredients)

  • 200 g Wheat flour
  • 72 g Sugar
  • 100 g Butter cold
  • 1 Stück Medium-sized egg

Put 200 g wheat flour, 72 g sugar and 100 g cold butter in small pieces as well as 1 medium-sized egg into the mixing bowl and knead for 2 min./kneading level to form a shortcrust pastry.

Cool dough

Form the dough into two balls, flatten them slightly and refrigerate in a Tupperware container with a lid or wrapped in foil for at least half an hour.

Preheat oven

Preheat oven to 175 degrees top and bottom heat.

Roll out dough and cut out cookies

Take the first portion of dough out of the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature briefly so that it is easier to roll out. Then roll out on a lightly floured work surface or, even better, between 2 layers of baking paper or foil or a cut-open freezer bag.

Cut out cookies

Depending on the desired size, cut out approx. 20-30 cookies and place them on a baking sheet lined with baking paper, leaving a little space between them. Do the same with the second portion of dough. Always knead the leftover dough together again and chill again briefly.

Bake cookies

If desired, brush the cookies with a beaten egg yolk. Bake until golden brown for approx. 10-12 minutes, depending on the thickness.

Decorate cookies

Let cool, remove from the baking sheet and decorate as desired with icing, decorative sprinkles, etc.

Tips

The cut-out cookies taste delicious on their own. If you want to decorate them additionally, you have many options: 1. Before baking, brush with a beaten egg yolk and decorate with (bake-proof) sugar sprinkles as desired. 2. After baking, let cool and brush with icing and sprinkle with sugar decorations. Roughly 200g of icing sugar and approx. 4 tablespoons of water are required for the amount of cookies.
